WHAT'S NEW IN THIS RELEASE: WINDOWS NT/2K/XP SUPPORT DROPPED We have spent an incredible amount of time trying to add support for Windows NT/2K/XP. However, most of EVERLOCK's 16-bit architecture was designed for DOS in 1986. We have decided that it is just not feasible to modify this legacy design for Windows NT/2K/XP and still maintain the reliability and security that our Customers demand. EVERLOCK will continue to support DOS, Windows 3.1x, Windows 9x and Windows Millennium. FAST COMPUTERS ARE NO LONGER A PROBLEM The most commonly reported problem with older versions of EVERLOCK has been Error Codes 7155-xxxx-1113 or 7155-xxxx-2113 due to running on fast computers. This has been fixed. We have successfully tested the programs of this upgrade under DOS 6.22, Windows 3.11, 9x and Millennium. We tested with various AMD and Intel processors up to and including a Pentium 4 running at 2.0 GHz. COMPLETE BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY WAS MAINTAINED All backward compatibility with v3.21 was maintained so you can easily start using this upgrade without changing anything. This means that Authorization and Options files created with this release will be in the same format as v3.21. Evbuild.exe, v3.31 and v3.32, did not create Options file in the v3.21 format. If you have created v3.31 or v3.32 Options files, you can change them back to v3.21 by opening them with the latest Evbuild.exe and then pressing . They will be saved in the v3.21 format. SYSTEM TIME CHANGES NO LONGER BREAK INSTALLED AUTHORIZATION Twice per year, Windows updates the system clock to account for daylight savings time. In earlier versions of EVERLOCK, this would invalidate the installed Authorization. This has been fixed in this upgrade. NO MORE ERRORS FROM ANTI-VIRUS BIOS OR UTILITIES Running an EVERLOCK protected program on a computer with an anti-virus BIOS or utility would cause Error Code 7155-xxxx-0213. This error has been eliminated because EVERLOCK no longer reads/writes the Boot sector in order to determine if a diskette is write-protected. 32-BIT ERROR CODE PROGRAM We have replaced the 16-bit Errcode.exe with a 32-bit version. This new version even allows you to attach your own notes and comments to each Error Code. LATEST VERSION IS NOW DOWNLOADABLE Evbuild.exe now reads the System Serial Number from your Authorization iButton (hardware Lock), so you can now download the latest version of the complete EVERLOCK System from our web site at www.az-tech.com. Please note that if Evbuild.exe cannot find your Authorization iButton, it operates in "Demo Mode". This is indicated at the top of the screen. MISC CHANGES The Findsib files were renamed to Findsb.dll and Findsb.lib. FOR USERS OF VERSION 3.10B AND EARLIER This version contains all the enhancements in Version 3.21. If you are upgrading from Version 3.10B or earlier, there are a lot of changes that took place in Version 3.21 that you need to be aware of. Please download and review the "Ev321.txt" Readme file from out web site at www.az-tech.com. End of Readme.txt file.
