How Do I Decide Which Product To Use?
Although both the EVERKEY System and FTsafe
can be used to protect almost any Product, your decision of
which one to use will usually depend on one or more unique
features that your Product requires.
For example, if you need Date Limits, choose EVERKEY since FTsafe
doesn't support that feature.
If you don't have access to the Source Code, choose FTsafe since
you can protect your Product using the Envelope Encryption.
EVERKEY features that FTsafe doesn't have:
-
EVERKEY provides Forward and Backward compatibility with multiple
types of protection devices.
Although the Rockey4ND is not supported in the current release,
the next version will support this device as well as
maintain backward compatibility with the Rockey4 and
iButton.
-
EVERKEY supports Date Limits which allow you to create fully
functional Demos or Rental versions of your Product.
You can set the Limit so that your software will stop running on
a particular day or after a specific number of days.
-
The Renew program allows you to securely reset (or remove) Date
and Execution Limits by providing a 15-digit code via phone, fax
or email.
Your Customer doesn't have to download or install anything.
Also, Renew can be used to "turn on" your Product's functions.
FTsafe features that EVERKEY doesn't have:
-
The FTsafe Rockey4ND is completely PlugNPlay without the need to
install any device drivers on Windows 2000, Millennium, XP, Vista
and Server Editions.
The Rockey4ND is seen as an HID device and these supported
Operating Systems already contain the device driver.
This has a huge effect on minimizing the amount of Support since
all driver related issues are eliminated.
-
The Enveloper program in FTsafe allows you to encrypt
and protect your application in minutes.
It works with Windows Portable Executable files, such as .dll,
.exe and .arx, and requires no source code changes.
You can specify a program startup check for the dongle, as well
as periodic background checks as your software is running.
-
In addition to all versions of Windows since 98SE, FTsafe
supports the Linux and
Mac OS X
operating systems.
-
The FTsafe Rockey4ND allows you to have 16 separate Execution
Limits.
Although this is more than most mainstream Products require,
it does provide maximum flexibility for custom types of
protection.
