EVERKEY Vista Support

EVERKEY Version 6 (currently in Beta) supports all 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 2000 thru Vista, including Windows Server Editions.

EVERKEY Version 2 supports all 16-bit and 32-bit versions of DOS and Windows thru windows XP, including Windows Server Editions.

However, programs protected with Version 2 can be used on all 32-bit and 64-bit Vista systems if you follow these instructions.

A typical Product protected by EVERKEY contains the programs Kechk32.dll and Renew32.exe.  You might also include the Keshow.exe program because it's an easy-to-use Diagnostic tool.  The latest versions of these programs are fully compatible with all 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Windows Vista.

Even though your Customers will be able to use your protected Product(s) on their Vista systems, the Version 2 Kebuild.exe program is not compatible with Vista.  This means that you must still use an earlier version of Windows to Build Rockey4 and iButton Keys.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Here are the step-by-step instructions for getting your Vista Customers up and running:

  1. Download AzRockey.zip.  This Zip file contains the AzRockey.exe program which installs the latest version of the Rockey4 Device Drivers.  It works with all 32-bit and 64-bit systems from Windows 2000 thru Vista.
  2. Have your Customer install your protected Product FIRST and run AzRockey.exe LAST.  Be sure to have your Customer install in this order because AzRockey.exe will overwrite any older drivers with the newest Rockey4 drivers.
  3. Your Customer can now begin using your Product.

Step-by-Step Instructions Notes

  1. Vista requires Administrator rights to install Device Drivers.  This means that your Customer will have to be logged-in as an Administrator or enter the Adminisrator Password when running AzRockey.exe
  2. If AzRockey.exe is used to install the Device Drivers, it is no longer necessary to unplug any Rockey4 devices first.
  3. For Vista, you no longer need to run Azsetup.exe.  It installs the old version of the Rockey4 and iButton drivers.  However, if Azsetup.exe has already been installed, there is no need to uninstall it.
  4. For Vista compatibility, be sure that your Product is using Kechk32.dll, Version 2.31.005.  If you are using the Renew32.exe program, be sure that it is Version 2.31.006.  For Keshow.exe, use the latest Version 6 release.
  5. Kechk32.dll and Renew32.exe require the presence of the Ibfs32.dll file.  You can ensure that this file is always available by copying the Ibfs32.dll file (any version) into the same folder with Kechk32.dll and Renew32.exe.  You can find the Ibfs32.dll file in the Drivers folder where your EVERKEY is installed.
